Mason Kicks Off R&R Triple A Summit
In the opening session of the R&R Triple A Summit, CBS Radio president/CEO Dan Mason shared his thoughts on a variety of topics from the recently announced sale of some CBS Radio stations, PPM, and the debate on performance royalties to things that keep him up at night. R&R president/publisher Erica Farber interviewed Mason for the hour-long session, which included questions from summit attendees.

The Independent Format: Triple A Programmers Build Brands Over Time
In recent months the launch of triple A stations in New York and Los Angeles has been a jewel in the crown for the format. Far from cookie-cutter, the "New Kids on the Block" session at the R&R Triple A Summit highlighted the format's diversity and flexibility. Moderated by Paragon Media Strategies' Mike Henry, the panelists discussed the essence of their respective stations and played scoped airchecks that highlighted their musical diversity and genuine localism, and showed how their Web sites catered to their listeners.

Sottolano Rises To WYSP/Philly PD
CBS Radio WYSP marketing and music director Jeff Sottolano has been named program director for the Philadelphia rock outlet after a nationwide search. Sottolano replaces former PD John Cook who was fired along with morning show host Kidd Chris on March 21, 2008, after a racist song was performed by an in-studio guest, Lady Gash.

Confetti is raining from the ceiling at Clear Channel Hot AC KMXP (Mix 96.9)/Phoenix, where morning show producer AJ rips off his MD stripes and exchanges them for some APD ones.
