R&R Going For Adds - Week Of October 20, 2003

Distillers, Iggy Pop, Hoobastank and Coldplay are on my mind. And why, oh why, do you not get OutKast yet? A look at the chart shows some good news for them this week, but it's slow. And the OutKast is slow because you people in radio are not recognizing a bona fide, outright smash. Pardon my hyperbole. Know who else make this format stand out? Hot Hot Heat, Jet, BRMC, Overseer and The White Stripes. Oh, and check out the new Atmosphere disc on your desk. Everyone's always complain about not enough "format-appropriate hip-hop" for play. Well, check it out.

Nowhere Hopes To Be Everywhere
Lava recording act Smile Empty Soul, comprising singer-guitarist Sean Danielson, drummer Derek Gledhill and bassist Ryan Martin, hope that "Nowhere" reaches everywhere next week. "Nowhere Kids," the latest single from the band's self-titled album, is ready to take on all challengers as it goes for adds at Alternative radio. The band has come a long way since first coming together in Santa Clarita, CA in 1999. Currently, they are living out their dreams as they open up for Fuel on the Road to Voodoo Tour, which visits markets in the East and Midwest through Halloween.
